Department Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

The Department Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales within the retail store. Working closely with the Store Manager, this role ensures staff are skilled, the store operates efficiently, and the brand’s standards are upheld.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge, fashion trends and brand information to minimise stock loss and support suggestive selling.
• Coach and support retail staff to provide the highest level of customer service and maximise sales.
• Assist the Store Manager in implementing operating procedures and adhering to company policies.
• Audit store administration regularly, resolve issues, and manage daily roster, leave and grievances.
• Uphold visual merchandising standards and promote the Club Apparel Loyalty Program to increase repeat sales.
• Provide feedback on employees and products to the Store Manager and Area Manager.
• Ensure store security and safety, and take end‑to‑end responsibility in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Maintain a professional appearance, stay physically fit for extended standing and occasional heavy lifting.

Required profile

• Fashion‑forward, well‑groomed and knowledgeable about current trends.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead and motivate a retail team.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy items.
• Ability to work independently and take full responsibility when the Store Manager is unavailable.
