Department Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

The Department Manager ensures the highest level of customer service is delivered by the retail team and supports the Store Manager in running a profitable store. The role includes promoting the Apparel Group loyalty program, providing feedback on staff and products, and taking full store responsibility when the Store Manager is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date product, trend and fashion knowledge to minimise stock loss and drive suggestive selling.
• Ensure retail staff are skilled in delivering excellent customer service and adhere to company policies and operating procedures.
• Manage daily roster, leave requests and employee grievances, and conduct regular store administration audits.
• Uphold visual merchandising standards and promote the Club Apparel Loyalty Program to increase repeat sales.
• Monitor store security, handle heavy lifting and stand for extended periods, and act as the point of contact in the Store Manager’s absence.

Required profile

• Fashion‑forward, well‑groomed appearance with strong product knowledge across the group’s brands.
• Physically fit, able to stand for long hours and perform heavy lifting as needed.
