Deputy Head of Primary

About the role

The Deputy Head of Primary will support the Head of School in delivering the vision and ethos of GEMS Westminster School, Ras Al Khaimah. This senior leader will ensure high standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care across the primary phase.

Key responsibilities

• Support and implement the school’s vision, ethos and development plan.
• Deputise for the Head of School and represent senior leadership as required.
• Lead curriculum continuity, consistency and progression for the primary phase.
• Oversee transition processes for pupils entering and leaving the primary phase.
• Conduct lesson observations, monitor standards and drive improvement.
• Manage resources, planning and evaluation of primary programmes.
• Lead staff appraisal processes and professional development for identified staff.
• Promote cross‑curricular approaches and inclusive practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior or middle leadership within primary education.
• Ability to support, represent and deputise for the Head of School.
• Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment and self‑evaluation processes.
• Demonstrated capability to manage resources and lead staff development.
• Commitment to inclusive, high‑quality teaching and pastoral care.
