Deputy Manager – Rotating Equipment & Packages

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Deputy Manager to lead the Rotating Equipment & Packages discipline for on‑shore oil & gas projects. The role involves supervising engineers and designers, ensuring technical excellence from concept through detailed design, and delivering projects on time, within budget and to client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of 10‑15 engineers and designers in proposal and detailed engineering for medium and large projects.
• Review tender documents, identify scope, develop risk registers and optimise equipment sizing for cost savings.
• Prepare and validate equipment cost and man‑hour estimates, and conduct contract reviews for scope, HSE and technical compliance.
• Coordinate with procurement, projects and planning to schedule engineering activities, manage manpower allocation and monitor progress using PETROCEPT software.
• Lead vendor technical and commercial evaluations, prepare purchase requisitions and ensure equipment complies with client specifications and ISO quality procedures.
• Interface with clients, vendors and construction teams to resolve technical issues, support commissioning and provide start‑up assistance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 20 years experience in concept, FEED, EPC and commissioning of on‑shore oil & gas projects.
• Proven ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams, develop standards, train junior engineers and oversee manpower planning.
• Strong track record of delivering projects within budget, schedule and quality requirements.

Required skills

• Equipment sizing and package specification development.
• Process design, environmental regulations and metallurgy specifications.
• Proficiency with PETROCEPT software and ISO quality procedures.
• Vendor evaluation, material take‑off (MTO) and procurement coordination.
• Experience with rotating equipment such as compressors, cranes, generators, pumps, turbines and control systems.
