Digital Archives Specialist – Library & Learning Commons

About the role

The Library and Learning Commons Department at Zayed University is seeking a Digital Archives Specialist to manage, preserve, and provide access to the university’s born‑digital and digitised records. Working under the University Archivist, the role ensures the long‑term preservation and discoverability of digital assets for researchers, staff, students and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Implement ISO standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16175, ISO 15489) to manage digital records and develop an integrated electronic records management system in collaboration with IT.
• Create and automate retention and disposition schedules, appraise vital records, and coordinate ingestion of digital content into an OAIS‑compliant trusted repository.
• Develop policies, guidelines and procedures in line with national archival legislation and international best practices.
• Conduct records surveys, inventories and audits, safeguard intellectual property, and support disaster‑preparedness measures.
• Provide technical support for transferring archival content, maintain metadata integrity, and contribute to digital archiving workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in archival, information or computer science (or related field) with at least 6 years of enterprise‑wide electronic records experience; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in an academic library or similar environment.
• Hands‑on experience with EDRMS/ECM solutions such as Micro Focus Content Manager or OpenText.
• Familiarity with ISO records‑management standards and metadata models (AtoM, ISAD‑G, RiC‑CM).

Required skills

• Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms.
• Micro Focus Content Manager, OpenText.
• AtoM, ISAD‑G, Records in Contexts–Conceptual Model (RiC‑CM).
• Strong knowledge of ISO/TS 16175‑2, ISO 15489, ISO 14721, ISO 23081, ISO/TR 15801, ISO 25964.
• Advanced MS Office applications.
