Digital Print & Finishing Operator – Books

About the role

Ciel Book Distribution is establishing an in‑house digital print room in Al Quoz to produce short runs of paperback books. The role focuses on operating and maintaining finishing equipment to deliver high‑quality finished books.

Key responsibilities

• Run a Xerox PrimeLink mono press and a colour press for covers, printing book blocks 4‑up on 330 × 488 mm sheets.
• Trim blocks on a programmable hydraulic guillotine, crease and laminate covers, and perfect‑bind books on an EVA binder.
• Set up jobs from imposed PDF files, checking register, colour and bleed before production.
• Maintain equipment: blade changes, sharpening, glue‑tank care, roller cleaning and consumable stock.
• Deliver finished books that meet trade quality standards (square spines, clean hinges, accurate trim).

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in print finishing, preferably in a digital or short‑run book environment.
• Hands‑on experience with guillotines, creasers, laminators and perfect binders.
• Ability to read imposition layouts and determine cut‑and‑stack sequences.
• Methodical, careful and proud of the final product.

Required skills

• Operation of Xerox PrimeLink mono and colour presses (experience with Fujifilm, Konica or Ricoh is a plus).
• Use of hydraulic guillotine, creaser, laminator and EVA perfect‑bind equipment.
• Basic PDF and pre‑press knowledge, including Acrobat and imposition software.
