Director - Business Development

About the role

EDGE Group is looking for an experienced Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth and customer engagement across its advanced technology and defence portfolio. Based in Abu Dhabi, the role will identify high‑value opportunities, forge strategic partnerships and expand EDGE’s presence in regional and international markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with EDGE’s growth objectives.
• Identify market trends, customer requirements and emerging opportunities across the technology portfolio.
• Lead the identification, qualification and capture of high‑value opportunities.
• Build and maintain senior relationships with government, defence, security and industry stakeholders.
• Develop strategic partnerships, alliances, joint ventures and international business opportunities.
• Collaborate with technology clusters to create integrated and differentiated solutions.
• Lead opportunity shaping, proposal development and commercial negotiations.
• Maintain a strong pipeline, provide accurate forecasts and market intelligence while ensuring regulatory and export‑control compliance.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Sales, Commercial, Programme or Product Management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Defence or related field; MBA or relevant Master’s preferred.
• Extensive experience in the defence sector with a proven record of winning complex government contracts.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and partnership capabilities.
