Director – Computing Services

About the role

The Information Technology Department at Zayed University is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Director of Computing Services. This senior position will guide the planning, organization, and direction of all IT operations, ensuring innovative and cost‑effective technology solutions that support the university’s educational and administrative missions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver exemplary IT resources and services aligned with the university’s strategic goals.
• Lead the development of academic and administrative support systems and ongoing data‑management platforms.
• Provide technical expertise and assist in policy, procedure, and program formulation.
• Ensure proactive technical support for students, faculty, and staff.
• Inspire, develop, and manage the IT team to achieve high‑quality, timely services.
• Supervise staff performance, conduct hiring, and manage training and disciplinary actions.
• Represent the Computing Services Department on university committees, including the Educational Technology Standing Committee.
• Plan and implement short‑ and long‑term IT programs, facilities, and services.
• Develop, monitor, and control departmental budgets and resource allocation.
• Prepare and maintain IT benchmarks, reports, and statistical analyses.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in higher‑education or large‑scale IT environments.
• Strong understanding of emerging technologies and best practices in information services.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to drive innovation while managing costs and productivity.
• Experience overseeing budgets, staffing, and performance evaluation.
