Director Metal Trader

About the role

The Commodity Trading Desk at First Abu Dhabi Bank seeks a Director Metal Trader to lead the Base and Precious Metals franchise. You will manage client flow, generate profit and loss, and strengthen the desk’s market position across the UAE and international markets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and leverage customer flow to meet assigned budget targets.
• Generate P&L through deep knowledge of base and precious metals markets.
• Enhance desk capabilities and grow the Metals franchise.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and counterparties.
• Support distribution channels to increase flow business.
• Price, execute and risk‑manage client transactions, including derivatives market making and warrants development.
• Monitor and control desk risk within limits, reporting daily positions to the desk head.
• Collaborate with sales and international FAB centers on trading and hedging ideas.
• Promote FAB as the leading institution for commodity hedging among local banks and corporates.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of commodity trading experience, specifically in Base and Precious Metals.
• Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading platforms and systems.
• Proven track record of managing commodities risk and implementing trading strategies.
• Analytical mindset with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to foster cooperation across teams and maintain open dialogue between desks.
• Customer‑focused attitude, anticipating needs and responding efficiently.
