Director of Housekeeping – Luxury Hotel

About the role

The Director of Housekeeping will lead the entire housekeeping operation at a five‑star luxury hotel, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest comfort. You will provide both strategic direction and day‑to‑day operational leadership, fostering a culture of excellence across all housekeeping teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead housekeeping operations covering guest rooms, public areas, laundry and related zones.
• Maintain InterContinental brand standards for cleanliness, presentation and maintenance.
• Inspire, develop and engage a multicultural housekeeping team.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Engineering and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
• Manage departmental budgets, payroll, productivity, inventory and operating expenses.
• Oversee room inspections, preventative maintenance coordination and quality‑assurance processes.
• Drive continuous improvement using guest feedback, audits and performance data.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene and sustainability regulations.
• Manage suppliers, linen, uniforms, amenities and equipment.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and succession planning.

Required profile

• Proven senior housekeeping leadership experience, preferably as Director of Housekeeping or Executive Housekeeper in a luxury or five‑star hotel.
• Strong knowledge of luxury housekeeping operations, quality standards and guest expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, multicultural teams.
• Solid financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem‑solving skills.
• Hands‑on leadership style with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a fast‑paced environment.
