Director of Legal Engineering – Dubai

About the role

As Director of Legal Engineering in Dubai, you will build and lead the Legal Engineering function for the Middle East, creating a local operating model that aligns with Legora’s global standards. You will split your time between strategic leadership, hands‑on client work, and shaping product and market strategy for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Establish the Legal Engineering function in the Middle East, defining operating rhythm, quality bar, capacity and staffing model.
• Hire and develop exceptional Legal Engineers, including Arabic‑capable talent, and build a manager layer of Team Leads.
• Own career management, performance feedback, promotion readiness and succession planning for the hub.
• Partner with regional commercial leadership on priority accounts, pilots, roll‑outs and escalations, linking engineering activity to revenue outcomes.
• Act as lead legal architect on selected enterprise engagements, translating complex legal problems into Legora workflows and reusable playbooks.
• Maintain governance over multi‑stakeholder programmes, setting leading indicators and risk reviews.
• Build trusted relationships with managing partners, general counsels and senior legal operations leaders across the Gulf.
• Represent the region inside Legora, turning client patterns, Arabic language needs and hosting requirements into product input.
• Shape Legora’s point of view on AI and legal work in the region through forums, events and market insights.

Required profile

• Extensive experience delivering sophisticated legal work for Gulf clients, with deep understanding of international and regional firm decision‑making.
• Proven track record of building a team, function or operating model from the ground up and delivering measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop people, including managers or team leads, with evidence of accelerated careers under your leadership.
• Strong career‑management skills: setting expectations, calibrating performance, assessing promotion readiness and acting early on gaps.
• Legal qualification (jurisdiction less important than credibility with senior legal buyers in the region).
