Director of Masterplanning

About the role

The Director of Masterplanning will lead the strategic planning, design direction, and delivery of large‑scale masterplan projects across mixed‑use, residential, hospitality, commercial and infrastructure developments. This senior position requires strong leadership, a clear design vision and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams while aligning projects with client objectives, market demands and regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of masterplans from concept through detailed planning stages.
• Define project vision, planning strategies and urban design principles.
• Oversee land‑use planning, mobility strategies, public realm design and phasing.
• Integrate sustainability, infrastructure and commercial objectives into masterplans.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams of planners, architects, engineers, landscape architects and transport consultants.
• Review and approve planning studies, design proposals, reports and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, planning guidelines and international best practices.
• Act as primary contact for clients, government authorities and key stakeholders.
• Lead workshops, presentations and strategic planning discussions.
• Support business development, client acquisition and recruitment activities.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources and deliverables, monitoring progress and mitigating risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or a related field.
• 15–20 years of experience delivering masterplanning and urban development projects, preferably large‑scale mixed‑use.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong understanding of sustainability, infrastructure integration and commercial objectives.
