Director of Physiotherapy

About the role

The Director of Physiotherapy leads the strategic development, clinical excellence, financial performance and operational management of the Physiotherapy Division at American Hospital Dubai. The role ensures compliance with JCI accreditation, DHA regulations and delivers patient‑centred, innovative physiotherapy services.

Key responsibilities

• Direct overall clinical, administrative and financial operations and develop strategic plans to expand services, improve patient access, outcomes and cost efficiency.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, staffing plan and resource allocation; produce annual reports and benchmark practices against international standards.
• Ensure continuous JCI accreditation compliance, monitor quality indicators and lead continuous quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Oversee multidisciplinary patient care, assess patients, order diagnostics, design treatment plans and coordinate with physicians.
• Mentor, evaluate and develop physiotherapy staff; lead recruitment, promotions and professional‑development activities.
• Drive research, innovation and academic collaborations; promote digital health solutions such as tele‑rehabilitation, EMR integration and AI‑assisted tools.
• Develop and update departmental policies, procedures and clinical protocols; represent the division in hospital committees.

Required profile

• Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) or Master’s in Physiotherapy with DHA license or eligibility.
• Minimum nine years progressive physiotherapy experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or management role in a hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of JCI accreditation standards, DHA regulatory requirements, evidence‑based protocols and quality‑improvement methodologies.
• Experience with digital health trends such as tele‑rehabilitation, EMR integration and AI‑assisted rehabilitation solutions.
