Drilling Fluids Specialist / Mud Engineer

About the role

Petrochem Performance Chemicals is seeking an experienced Drilling Fluids Specialist to provide on‑site fluid engineering support for wells in the UAE. The role involves planning, executing and optimizing drilling, workover and completion fluid programs while ensuring safety, quality and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and supervise drilling fluid programs for onshore and offshore rigs, using water‑based, oil‑based and synthetic fluids.
• Prepare daily mud running specifications, manage testing, logistics, inventory and communication with drilling contractors.
• Generate end‑of‑well (EOW) reports, perform pre‑ and post‑well analysis and recommend improvements.
• Maintain mud‑lab equipment, conduct regular calibration, verification and cleaning.
• Monitor fluid performance, adjust formulations, and mitigate drilling problems in real time.
• Ensure compliance with customer, legal and regulatory requirements and uphold QH&S standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
• 5‑8 years of experience as a Mud Engineer/Drilling Fluids Specialist, preferably in the GCC.
• Completed mud school or equivalent certification.
• Experience with offshore operations is highly preferred.

• Use of engineering software tools for daily drilling reports.
