ECL Valuation Specialist – Credit Risk Modelling (MENA)

About the role

EY is looking for a Credit Risk Modelling Audit Specialist to join its Assurance ECL Valuation team for MENA clients. You will lead external audits of IFRS 9 credit risk models for leading financial institutions, applying your technical expertise to ensure high‑quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical specialist on external audits of credit risk models (IFRS 9) for audit entities.
• Conduct technical reviews of model development and validation documentation, including performance assessment and independent replication.
• Review end‑to‑end credit risk processes, covering governance, policy and procedures.
• Perform substantive testing and technical analysis for IFRS 9 and credit risk modelling engagements.
• Support a broad range of banking risk‑related issues and contribute to regional and national propositions.
• Stay current with evolving IFRS 9 requirements and validate or build credit risk measurement models, including challenger models.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in credit risk modelling or audit (5 years for managerial roles).
• Proven ability to mentor junior staff and enhance model creation.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with credit risk modelling techniques (PD, EAD, LGD) and regulatory frameworks (IFRS 9, CECL).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, R or Python.
• Strong knowledge of model development, validation, performance assessment and data extraction/pre‑processing.
