About the role

GEMS American Academy in Abu Dhabi seeks a passionate Economics Teacher to join its team for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The role involves delivering the American and IB curricula in a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages inquiry‑based learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry‑based economics lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and gifted students.
• Foster a positive, respectful classroom culture that promotes collaboration and student well‑being.
• Integrate technology and innovative approaches to enhance learning experiences.
• Assess student progress using authentic methods and provide timely feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning and curriculum development.
• Participate actively in co‑curricular and community programmes to support holistic learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or a subject‑related degree with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state licence) in Economics.
• Proven experience teaching Economics, preferably within an American or IB curriculum.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and support students through engaging, purposeful learning.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, reflective approach.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and contributing to an inclusive school culture.
