Electrical & Automation Engineer – Rolling HSM Drives

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical & Automation Engineer to maintain and modify HSM drives and associated automation systems in our steel plant. The role ensures reliable operation of LV/MV drives, PLCs, HMIs and CNC machines, supporting maximum plant utilization while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain system availability by servicing LV and MV drives, PLCs, HMIs, and CNC equipment.
• Perform software backups, historical data security and regular database backups for Level 1 automation.
• Adapt Level 1 software interfaces to meet Level 2 integration requirements and manage related databases.
• Plan daily work based on electrical and production reports, prioritising tasks to maximise utilisation.
• Prepare daily management reports analysing line stoppages and fault trends.
• Manage spare parts inventory, conduct audits and align availability with budget guidelines.
• Liaise with production teams to schedule machine shutdowns and gather service feedback.
• Provide hands‑on technical support for major maintenance issues and mentor junior staff.
• Contribute data for annual budgeting of Level 1 automation activities.
• Support UAE national trainees in developing required competencies.
• Follow ESI Integrated Management System procedures for health, safety and environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical and automation engineering within an industrial environment.
• Ability to analyse production data, prioritize tasks and generate clear reports.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to mentor less‑experienced colleagues.
• Understanding of budgeting processes and spare‑parts management.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
