Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre

About the role

James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre to join its Engineering team and lead electrical design and engineering deliverables across complex projects. The role manages the design process, coordinates multidisciplinary engineering interfaces, leads the design team, reviews and approves technical deliverables, and ensures designs meet project requirements, schedules, budgets, standards, and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electrical design process from concept through completion.
• Manage engineering deliverables, project schedules, and budgets to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.
• Design power distribution, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, emergency lighting, structured cabling, and security systems.
• Prepare electrical designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, scopes of work, and BOQs.
• Review and approve design documents, conduct independent design checks and audits.
• Analyse complex electrical engineering problems and provide cost‑effective solutions.
• Lead and coordinate Electrical Design Engineers, CAD personnel, and supporting resources.
• Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, consultants, other disciplines, and construction teams.
• Provide technical expertise for equipment selection, procurement, and techno‑commercial reviews.
• Represent the company in design meetings with clients, consultants, architects, and main contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of design and engineering experience in Data Centre, MEP or construction, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience delivering Data Centre projects and leading multidisciplinary engineering design.
• Strong knowledge of local and international codes, standards and industry practices.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and construction methods.
• Excellent project management, leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
