Electrician – Drilling Operations

About the role

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems on drilling rigs, including variable speed drives, generators, HVAC, refrigeration, lighting and alarm systems. The role supports safe and efficient drilling operations while ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and maintain electrical equipment such as VFDs, SCR drives, generators, air‑conditioning, heating and refrigeration units.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on panels, circuit breakers, junction boxes, voltage regulators and alarm/video systems.
• Download, upload and troubleshoot PLC programs and control logic, including VFD control.
• Manage LO/TO, Permit‑to‑Work and Authorized‑to‑Operate procedures for all electrical work.
• Coordinate emergency response, create work orders and maintain spare‑parts inventory.

Required profile

• Visible leadership with a total‑ownership attitude toward safety and HSE objectives.
• Ability to supervise crew, enforce company policies and ensure compliance with emergency response plans.
• Strong understanding of LO/TO, Permit‑to‑Work and ATO/ACO processes.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting (download/upload, control logic analysis).
• Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and SCR drive configuration and maintenance.
• Electrical wiring, splicing, and connection of fixtures, outlets and equipment.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings and equipment manuals.
• Preventive maintenance scheduling for HVAC, refrigeration, lighting and alarm systems.
