Engineer I – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Engineer I will respond to guest repair requests, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all hotel equipment and facilities operate safely and efficiently. This role supports both interior and exterior maintenance tasks in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests, communicate solutions, and document daily activities for shift hand‑over.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room assets, and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic controls.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment such as air conditioners, lighting, outlets, TVs, and landscaping irrigation.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts, and follow lockout/tagout procedures before any maintenance work.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, painting, or hotel engineering is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work on stairs, ladders, and varied heights.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair (lamps, switches, outlets).
• Plumbing skills (unclogging drains, toilet repairs).
• Pneumatic/electronic system understanding and basic carpentry.
• Use of lockout/tagout safety system.
• Basic computer skills for inputting schedules and temperature changes.
