Enterprise Risk Manager – UAE

About the role

Airwallex is building an AI‑native financial operating system and needs an Enterprise Risk Manager in the UAE to shape and operationalise its risk framework as the company launches regulated payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt and implement Airwallex’s global enterprise risk architecture for the UAE, covering risk appetite, taxonomy, governance, limits and escalation protocols.
• Partner with Regulatory Compliance, Legal and UAE leadership to align risk governance with Central Bank of the UAE expectations.
• Translate risk data, incidents and trends into clear reporting for UAE management, regional leadership, risk committees and regulators.
• Act as an independent second‑line advisor, challenging initiatives that exceed approved risk appetite or regulatory expectations.
• Support risk assessment and approval for new products, services, partnerships and operating‑model changes.
• Develop the UAE crisis management and resilience framework, including business continuity planning and scenario exercises.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law, STEM or a related quantitative field.
• 5‑7+ years of experience in risk management, operational risk, compliance or audit within financial services, fintech, payments or banking.
• Experience with risk appetite statements, taxonomies, governance processes and escalation mechanisms.
• Familiarity with the UAE financial‑services regulatory environment, especially Central Bank of the UAE requirements for Stored Value Facilities and Retail Payment Services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing risk papers and presenting to executives, boards or regulators.
