Environmental & Employee Health & Safety Specialist

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a proactive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to develop, implement and maintain comprehensive EHS programs across its operations in the United Arab Emirates. You will play a key role in improving HSE performance, fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Project HSE Plan and Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Conduct HSE drills (fire, environmental, rescue) and lead HSE meetings with the Project Manager.
• Perform Life‑Saving Rules assessments and routine site inspections.
• Carry out periodic audits of Hitachi Energy’s HSE Operating System.
• Review risk assessments, method statements and subcontractor HSE plans.
• Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions and report HSE statistics (hours, training, incidents).
• Support the implementation of HSE operating systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as an HSE Advisor in a high‑risk industry, preferably substation EPC projects.
• Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Electrical Engineering or a related science field.
• Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH IGC.
• Client‑facing experience and solid knowledge of relevant codes of practice.
• Strong communication, presentation and training abilities.
