Environmental Health & Safety Officer

About the role

The Environmental Health & Safety Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental practices across Shangri‑La Qaryat Al Beri. This role ensures compliance with Abu Dhabi regulations and company standards while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor workplace health, safety and environmental practices to ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health & safety training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes for colleagues.
• Maintain safety records, permits, reports and documentation required by local authorities and audits.
• Coordinate emergency response procedures and safety compliance activities with relevant departments.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of local authority inspections and compliance related to EHS regulations in Abu Dhabi.
• Excellent understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to identify hazards and implement preventive and corrective measures effectively.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in EHS operations, preferably within hospitality or facilities management in the UAE.

Required skills

• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) – required.
• First Aid, Fire Safety or Emergency Response certification – preferred.
• Familiarity with ADOSH system framework and UAE labour safety regulations – highly desirable.
