Environmental Officer

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, energy transition, industrial and bio areas, is looking for an Environmental Officer in Al Ruwais. The role supports the development and implementation of the environmental management program on an assigned project.

Key responsibilities

• Help project and construction management identify and comply with environmental requirements and address issues as they arise
• Support environmental training programs
• Support scopes of work and oversight of environmental subcontractors, and compile environmental baseline information
• Oversee onsite environmental officers and general office administration
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Compliance Plans, Construction Environmental Control Plans and other project-specific plans
• Support writing environmental, permitting and community sections in option studies
• Support internal audits and monitor the environment regularly, recording results
• Maintain the latest list of wastewater and ventilation gas

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0 to 4 years of experience in construction projects
• Basic knowledge of environment and waste management
• Experience as an officer in oil, gas, petrochemical or power plant companies
• Experience in an engineering and construction company
• Professional certification in environmental management, and knowledge of international and local standards and procedures
• Basic knowledge of Word and Excel

Required skills

• Knowledge of oil and gas environmental regulations and standards
• Understanding of environmental management systems in project execution
• Ability to perform environmental impact assessments and identify mitigation measures
• Experience with environmental monitoring and reporting, and data analysis and report writing
• Knowledge of hazardous waste management and disposal
• Strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving and teamwork skills
