ETL Production Support Engineer (IBM DataStage)

About the role

An ETL Production Support Engineer is needed to provide L1/L2 support for enterprise data warehouse (DWH) applications and production environments. The engineer monitors IBM DataStage workloads, troubleshoots failed jobs and coordinates service recovery so that business data and reporting stay available on schedule. The role supports a 24/7 operation with on-call rotations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 production support and maintenance for data warehouse applications and ETL workflows.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly batch jobs, dashboards and alerts to ensure data is available on schedule.
• Investigate job failures and data issues, perform root-cause analysis and restore services promptly.
• Support production releases, change requests, data corrections, testing and post-release validation.
• Work with data engineers, BI reporting teams, application teams, vendors, analysts and business users to resolve issues and prepare new workloads for production support.
• Review data processing workflows and improve monitoring and alerting to reduce recurring failures.
• Follow data management, security, audit and privacy requirements during production support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
• At least 2 years of IT production support experience.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, able to work independently and coordinate with technical and business teams.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule supporting 24/7 operations and on-call rotations.

Required skills

• IBM DataStage and SQL and PL/SQL, including query optimization and troubleshooting.
• Unix and shell scripting.
• Additional knowledge of batch scheduling tools such as Control-M, Linux server maintenance, Denodo and CDC tools, and incident management.
