Experienced Consultant – Technical Services (Natural Resources & Energy)

About the role

Join BDO’s rapidly growing Natural Resources & Energy practice in Abu Dhabi, delivering internal audit, risk and advisory services to upstream, midstream and downstream clients. You will work with senior executives, leveraging emerging technologies such as IoT, AI and advanced analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage internal audit, risk and consulting assignments independently across exploration, drilling, production, refining and logistics.
• Assess and improve internal controls, operational processes and compliance, delivering structured reports, audit programs and risk analyses.
• Build trusted relationships with senior executives, drive business development and contribute to thought‑leadership in the NRE sector.
• Promote adoption of emerging technologies (IoT, AI, Robotics, Analytics) in client solutions and develop digital tools.
• Mentor junior team members, oversee performance appraisals and lead sector‑specific upskilling programs.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in Risk Advisory, Internal Audit or Internal Controls, preferably in a top‑tier consulting firm.
• Deep functional knowledge of the NRE value chain (upstream, midstream, downstream) and related processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation or Metallurgy); advanced degree preferred.
• Relevant certification such as CIA, SO Auditor, API or IMS.
• Willingness to travel for client engagements.

Required skills

• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with data analytics tools is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
