Facility Technician I

About the role

EDGE Group PJSC, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is looking for a hands-on, safety-focused Facility Technician to join its General Services team in Abu Dhabi. The role supports the day-to-day maintenance and operation of company facilities and equipment through routine inspections, preventive maintenance and minor repairs, while coordinating contractors and keeping all work safe and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine facility inspections, preventive maintenance and general repairs.
• Carry out minor electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures and related components.
• Perform basic plumbing and general building maintenance.
• Monitor HVAC systems and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain, clean and inspect machines and equipment according to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Identify defects and coordinate corrective maintenance, and coordinate with external contractors and service providers.
• Support preventive maintenance planning and facility improvement, maintain facility inventory and keep accurate inspection and maintenance records.
• Ensure contractors comply with site safety and access requirements, use PPE and follow HSE procedures, and report hazards, incidents and near misses.

Required profile

• Diploma, vocational qualification or associate degree in a relevant technical or facilities field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant facility maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience with general building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Good English communication skills; English is required for all roles.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
• Ability to safely use basic maintenance tools and equipment.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Preferred: technical qualification in electrical, mechanical, HVAC or building maintenance; experience coordinating contractors, preventive maintenance schedules, inventory and spare parts, and familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle.
