Field Service Engineer

About the role

Join CATLab’s Energy Storage division to ensure the safe and reliable operation of utility‑scale battery systems. You will work on‑site, performing maintenance, troubleshooting and supporting new project commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily patrols, preventive maintenance, and routine checks on utility‑scale energy storage systems (BESS) and core components such as PCS, BMS, EMS, battery clusters, transformers, switchgear and fire suppression systems.
• Respond to equipment alarms, perform rapid on‑site troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and repairs, coordinating with technical teams to minimise downtime.
• Support commissioning of new projects by assisting with installation verification, grid‑connection testing, trial operations and final acceptance inspections.
• Collect and analyse operational data, fault logs and maintenance records to assess equipment health, identify trends and prepare optimisation reports.
• Enforce safety protocols, implement risk controls and act as the primary liaison for client communication and stakeholder coordination.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering.
• At least three years of on‑site experience in the battery‑related industry, preferably with utility‑scale energy storage O&M.
• Hands‑on experience with battery structural principles, maintenance and after‑sales systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to produce technical documentation.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, strong team player, adaptable to travel and flexible working hours.
