About the role
The Field Service Technician will provide on‑site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support for downhole service equipment such as Torquemasters, Jar Testers, and Bucking Units. The role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical troubleshooting skills and a commitment to safety while working at customer locations worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Install, commission and perform functional testing of Torquemasters, Jar Testers and Bucking Units at customer sites.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems to minimise downtime.
- Calibrate equipment to meet manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Provide technical support and operator training during installation and service visits.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Technical Support to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain service tools, test equipment and assigned vehicle in good condition.
- Travel domestically and internationally, including offshore locations, and participate in on‑call emergency support.
Required profile
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance or equivalent experience.
- 4–6 years of field service or maintenance experience with industrial or oilfield equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain required travel documentation.
- Ability to pass customer‑required safety training and medical requirements.
Required skills
- Experience with Torquemasters, Roughnecks, Top Drives, Bucking Units, Power Tongs and Jar Testers.
- Reading and interpreting hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical troubleshooting.
- Equipment calibration.
- Use of diagnostic equipment and precision measuring tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic service reporting systems.
