Financial Controller – FinTech Startup

About the role

The client is a fast‑growing fintech start‑up focused on financial inclusion. They are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead all financial operations, reporting and compliance in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial transactions, cash management, accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and UAE regulations.
• Lead tax compliance, VAT filings and regulatory reporting to UAE Central Bank, SCA and other authorities.
• Manage external audit processes and ensure audit readiness.
• Develop and monitor key financial KPIs, cash‑flow forecasts and variance analysis.
• Enhance internal controls, identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain and optimise financial systems such as MS Dynamics, SAP or QuickBooks.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team while collaborating with HR, Operations and Legal.

Required profile

• 10‑12 years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in fintech or a start‑up.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, ACCA or similar certification highly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of UAE financial regulations, IFRS, VAT and tax compliance.
• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with financial software (MS Dynamics, SAP, QuickBooks).
• Strong Excel modelling skills.
• Experience with Power BI or similar data‑analytics tools.
