Financial Manager – Shipping & Maritime Logistics

About the role

The Financial Manager will lead the financial health and strategic direction of a shipping and maritime logistics company. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role oversees finance, accounting, treasury and risk management across vessel operations, chartering and freight services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual budgets, voyage profitability forecasts and rolling cash‑flow projections for fleet and shore operations.
• Conduct variance analysis against budget, prior periods and industry benchmarks and present findings to senior management.
• Develop financial models for new trade routes, vessel acquisitions, charter decisions and fleet expansion.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP, including multi‑entity and multi‑currency consolidation.
• Ensure accurate accounting for voyage revenue, freight income, demurrage, charter‑hire, agency fees and vessel operating costs.
• Manage fixed‑asset and vessel depreciation, dry‑docking provisions and lease accounting (IFRS 16).
• Coordinate statutory and internal audits and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Handle daily cash flow, banking relationships, letters of credit and trade finance facilities.
• Monitor foreign‑exchange exposure and recommend hedging strategies.
• Supervise accounts receivable and payable related to freight billing, bunker purchases and port disbursements.
