Financial Reporting Specialist – University Finance

About the role

The Reporting Specialist supports the Head of Financial Performance Analytics and Reporting by delivering a trusted view of the university’s financial performance. The role builds and maintains recurring reports, prepares executive‑ready analysis and presentations, and assists with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑call processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support to the Head of Financial Performance Analytics, delivering recurring and ad‑hoc reports, analysis and presentation packs.
• Assist the FP&A team in budgeting and re‑forecasting cycles, consolidating departmental submissions, validating assumptions and producing variance analysis.
• Translate complex financial results into concise narratives and high‑quality executive presentations using PowerPoint and think‑cell.
• Prepare and review periodic cash‑call requests for university operations and projects, maintaining cash‑flow forecasts and tracking utilization.
• Conduct variance, trend, ratio and sensitivity analysis across manpower, OPEX and CAPEX, delivering actionable insights.
• Identify and implement process improvements, including IT‑ and AI‑enabled automation.
• Carry out other duties as directed that align with functional objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics or related field (post‑graduate or professional qualification preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in financial reporting, FP&A or financial performance analytics.
• Proven ability to produce recurring management reporting packs and executive‑level presentations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and data‑quality discipline.
• English working proficiency.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, large‑volume data handling).
• Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and think‑cell for executive‑grade charts.
• Experience with Oracle EPM (EPBCS/PBCS) – preferred.
• Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau – preferred.
• Working knowledge of SQL or equivalent data‑querying language – preferred.
