Financial Systems Governance & Control Section Head

About the role

A confidential government entity in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Financial Systems Governance and Control Section Head to lead the governance, development, implementation, enhancement, and support of financial systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of financial systems and related modules.
• Oversee ERP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial data integration platforms.
• Ensure availability, reliability, performance, security, and effectiveness of financial systems.
• Provide technical support, resolve system issues through root‑cause analysis, and identify automation opportunities.
• Manage system upgrades, patches, configurations, and customisations while minimising disruption.
• Establish and maintain system security controls and support audits, risk assessments, and internal control evaluations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, auditors, external vendors, and stakeholders to gather requirements and develop implementation plans.
• Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for financial systems aligned with organisational objectives.
• Oversee user training, documentation, and mentorship of financial systems professionals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Accounting (focus on financial systems) or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, including financial systems implementation, development, configuration, customisation, and end‑user support.
• Significant experience with ERP and financial reporting systems; strong understanding of financial systems integration, reporting, process automation, and data governance.
• Experience in system audits, risk assessments, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, team development, performance management, and resource planning.

• System security controls and audit support.
• Microsoft Excel and relevant financial software applications.
