First Officer - A320 (UAE National)

About the role

Air Arabia is hiring a First Officer for the Airbus A320, based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The pilot flies assigned flights according to the Airline Operational Manual and civil aviation regulations, ensuring safety, security and efficiency, supporting and guiding the cabin crew, handling emergencies and taking control of the flight.

Key responsibilities

• Fly the aircraft on schedule and approved flight plans, prioritising safety, efficiency and passenger comfort
• Ensure flights follow the Operations Manual and regulations, and maintain procedures for safe aircraft operation
• Ensure timely attendance, grooming, fitness and legal status of self and the flight crew
• Conduct pre-flight briefings and liaise with co-pilots and dispatch on aircraft status, route, weather, fuel, weight and role distribution
• Optimise fuel use within safety limits and carry out safety, security, fuel and transit checks before, during and after each flight
• Direct crew reactions to safety or security irregularities and escalate when needed
• Cooperate with maintenance engineers, MCC and MROs, and load accurate technical logs and documents
• Keep the Operations Manual up to date and stay current with regulatory requirements
• Perform ground-based safety or security officer duties when directed

Required profile

• Appropriate ATPL licence; technical and psychometric assessment and medical fitness check passed
• Minimum 4,000 hours of aircraft flying; Airbus A320 experience preferred
• Experience with low-cost airlines highly desirable
• Formal safety and emergency response training is essential; CRM, airport security procedures and IATA security principles are advantages
• Very good English; other local languages are an advantage
• Exposure to QA/safety/security/audit procedures and to security or safety roles
