Food & Beverage Culinary Intern

About the role

An Accor hotel in Dubai is looking for a Food & Beverage Culinary Intern. The internship covers kitchen preparation and service tasks, from preparing ingredients to serving food to guests, within a hotel that is part of the Accor network.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping and storing food before use
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using kitchen utensils and equipment
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as needed
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes
• Serve food in proper portions on dishes, plates, mugs and bowls, with correct plate appearance
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish for waiters and patrons according to standards
• Keep food storage areas clean
• Prepare potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperature according to HACCP guidelines
• Follow personal hygiene procedures and food safety and handling policies
• Inform the chef of assistance needed during busy periods and notify the manager if a product does not meet specifications

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• At least two years of cooking or kitchen experience in an accredited restaurant or hotel
• One to two years in a public-facing position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
• Friendly, gracious and fun demeanor
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with a high level of attention to detail
• Positive working relationships with colleagues and departments

Required skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Knowledge of HACCP food safety principles
