Forward Deployed Engineer (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

Forward Deployed Engineers lead complex deployments of frontier AI models from prototype to production. You will embed with customers where model performance matters, delivery is urgent, and ambiguity is the default, shaping both the solution and the product roadmap.

Key responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across multiple deployments, guiding projects from first prototype to stable production.
• Build full‑stack systems that deliver measurable customer value and inform OpenAI’s learning loop.
• Embed closely with customer teams, understand their needs, and drive adoption of built solutions.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early to maintain momentum.
• Make trade‑offs between scope, speed, and quality, adjusting plans to protect delivery.
• Contribute directly in code when progress or clarity depends on it.
• Codify working patterns into reusable tools, playbooks, or building blocks.
• Share field feedback that influences research and product direction.
• Keep teams moving through clarity and follow‑through.

Required profile

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer‑facing work.
• Proven ability to scope and deliver complex systems in fast‑moving or ambiguous environments.
• Experience writing and reviewing production‑grade code across frontend and backend.
• Background in building or deploying systems powered by large language models or generative AI.
• Ability to simplify complexity and make fast, sound decisions under pressure.
• Clear communication with engineers, product teams, and customer stakeholders.
• Proactive risk identification and adjustment without slowing progress.
• Calm judgment when stakes are high.
