Fuel Handling Technician

About the role

Prepare and execute all outage activities associated with reactor vessel disassembly, core fuel removal, shuffling and reload, spent fuel pool movements, and non‑outage fuel handling such as new fuel receipt and storage. All work is performed in strict accordance with Nawah standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Outage Control Center (OCC), operations, maintenance, contractors and radiation safety to maintain critical‑path schedules and ensure nuclear and industrial safety.
• Follow ALARA plans, implement recovery actions when ALARA goals are challenged, and support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) as required.
• Manage fuel handling systems and equipment, including inspection, testing and maintenance of lifting and rigging gear, FHA overhead crane and RCB polar crane.
• Prepare and control documentation for work packages such as work orders, job hazard analyses, method statements and final reports.
• Support foreign‑object search and retrieval (FOSAR) and maintain cleanliness through Foreign Materials Exclusion (FME) programs.

Required profile

• Diploma with 2–3 years of relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) nuclear power plant or equivalent advanced reactor (APR‑1400, OPR‑1000).
• Experience in outage management, work management or fuel handling activities in a nuclear environment.

Required skills

• Operation of fuel handling equipment and nuclear‑plant cranes (overhead and polar).
• Inspection and certification of lifting and rigging equipment.
• Implementation of ALARA and Nawah safety procedures.
• Foreign Materials Exclusion (FME) and foreign‑object search (FOSAR) techniques.
