Full‑Time Faculty – International Relations & Security

About the role

The American University in the Emirates seeks experienced scholars to join its College of Security and Strategic Studies as full‑time faculty for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations, International Security, or Political Science, and contribute to the university’s research and service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver research‑driven teaching in English, using modern pedagogical techniques and digital tools.
• Develop, review, and update curricula to ensure relevance and academic rigor.
• Assess student performance, provide clear grading criteria, and offer academic advising.
• Engage in scholarly activities, publish in Scopus‑indexed journals, and collaborate with colleagues.
• Participate in university committees, accreditation tasks, and community outreach.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in International Relations, International Security, Political Science, or a closely related field from a U.S.‑accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in the field and at least two years of teaching or professional experience at an internationally accredited university.
• Evidence of graduate‑level teaching or research equivalent to 18 credit hours.
• At least one peer‑reviewed publication in a Scopus‑indexed journal.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to integrate web‑based technology into classroom instruction.
