Gas Turbine Structural Engineer – Stress & Rotor Dynamics (Whole Engine)

About the role

POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies, is looking for a Structural Analysis Engineer to lead stress and vibration analysis of gas‑turbine components across turbojet and turbofan programmes. The role combines mechanical design, integrity assessment and project planning while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise gas‑turbine systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform thermo‑mechanical simulations at design, off‑design and far‑off‑design conditions.
• Conduct creep, fatigue, fracture, low‑cycle and high‑cycle fatigue assessments.
• Execute vibration and rotordynamic analyses.
• Carry out Stress Assessment and FMECA to support safety and operability.
• Develop and refine FEA methodologies.
• Review designs, prepare engineering reports and generate testing guidelines.
• Identify project risks and plan mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
• 5‑15 years of experience in gas‑turbine propulsion, mechanical design and heat‑transfer analysis.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials and whole‑engine structural analysis.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX.
• Expertise in commercial FEA software (ANSYS, HyperWorks, Simcenter Nastran, etc.).
• Experience with programming languages like C or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Ability to perform creep, fatigue, fracture and rotordynamic simulations.
