General Accountant

About the role

The General Accountant will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements and ensuring compliance with IFRS, UAE VAT regulations and internal policies while supporting project financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and company policies.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring accurate general ledger, trial balance and reconciliations.
• Support external and internal audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
• Monitor and control project costs, revenues and profitability, reviewing budgets, variations and cost allocations.
• Oversee supplier invoices, subcontractor bills and employee claims, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Maintain receivables and payables aging analysis, ensure timely collection and follow‑up with clients.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and file VAT returns with supporting documentation.
• Liaise with banks, auditors and government authorities, monitor bank facilities and manage petty cash.
• Supervise junior accountants, providing guidance and training on accounting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Relevant accounting experience in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT laws.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, procurement and contracts teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Oracle, SAP, Quickbooks or Peach Tree accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel skills.
