General Accountant

About the role

Careers International is hiring a General Accountant in Dubai for a full-time position in the FMCG/Foods/Beverage sector. The role covers day-to-day accounting, financial reporting and VAT compliance, with a hybrid setup where most work can be done remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in Xero in line with UAE legal requirements
• Manage the general ledger and financial reporting structure
• Reconcile sales and payment data from Shopify, Stripe and bank transfers
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial summaries
• Process payroll and keep employee payroll records
• Manage accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely supplier payments
• Prepare and submit VAT returns to the UAE Federal Tax Authority and keep up to date on UAE corporate tax requirements
• Monitor office spending, purchasing and stock management
• Support budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports, and coordinate with auditors, suppliers and internal teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (ACCA, CPA or CA preferred)
• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience in the UAE, ideally in an SME or F&B business
• Fluent written and spoken English
• High integrity, accuracy and confidentiality
• UAE driving licence preferred

Required skills

• At least 2 years of hands-on Xero experience
• Strong understanding of VAT, bookkeeping and financial reporting
• Experience reconciling Shopify and Stripe preferred
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills
