General Counsel – Remote, US Bar, EMEA Overlap

About the role

We are looking for a proactive US‑bar‑qualified General Counsel to lead our in‑house legal function across three distinct business streams: a top‑5 direct‑to‑consumer e‑commerce brand, a family office investing in hedge funds, and cross‑border structuring for multiple jurisdictions. This senior position reports directly to the CEO and operates on a fully remote basis with required overlap with EMEA time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee legal infrastructure for DTC regulatory compliance, hedge‑fund subscription and custody documentation, and multi‑jurisdictional structuring.
• Manage relationships with external counsel across all domains.
• Conduct monthly legal exposure audits and quarterly compliance sweeps for consumer‑facing operations.
• Negotiate limited‑partner terms, side‑letters, and other fund documentation.
• Ensure FTC compliance, consumer‑protection standards, and cross‑border asset protection.

Required profile

• Active admission to the US bar.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate material legal risks across diverse sectors.
• Experience operating in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of senior legal leadership.

Required skills

• FTC compliance and consumer‑protection law.
• Hedge‑fund subscription, custody, and LP agreement drafting.
• Cross‑border legal structuring and asset protection.
• Negotiation and risk‑assessment expertise.
