General Manager – Contracting

About the role

The General Manager – Contracting will lead the strategic and operational direction of a diversified contracting business based in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to senior leadership, the role is responsible for driving growth, profitability and delivering large‑scale construction projects across residential, hospitality, commercial and infrastructure sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall business strategy, ensuring alignment with long‑term growth objectives.
• Oversee P&L performance, budgeting, financial management and profitability targets.
• Lead senior functional teams, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction and support functions.
• Manage complex, large‑scale construction projects to meet time, cost and quality standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, PMCs, subcontractors and government authorities.
• Identify new business opportunities, strategic partnerships and avenues for sustainable expansion.
• Set performance targets and champion operational excellence across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in construction/contracting, including senior leadership roles.
• Proven track record managing large, complex projects and delivering financial results.
• Strong commercial, financial and strategic management capabilities.
• Extensive experience in the UAE/GCC construction market is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• PMP certification (advantageous).
