General Manager – Joint Venture (Oil & Gas)

About the role

Wood is looking for a dynamic General Manager to lead the Wood Al Majal joint venture, a partnership focused on delivering maintenance, completions, commissioning and brownfield modification projects for Iraq’s oil and gas sector. The role is based in Dubai with regular travel to Iraq, spending roughly half of the time on‑site in each country.

Key responsibilities

• Own the joint‑venture business plan, budget and P&L targets, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.
• Recruit and manage in‑country function leads and delivery leads to oversee daily operations and project execution.
• Organise monthly Managing Committee and bi‑annual General Assembly meetings and implement resulting actions.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements of the joint‑venture agreement and Iraqi regulations.
• Develop and nurture relationships with government agencies, BOC, SGC, Basra Governor, and other key stakeholders.
• Drive business development, identify key opportunities, and grow fabrication, training and project execution capabilities.
• Lead proposal development, applying appropriate technical and commercial models to secure contracts.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in the oil & gas sector, preferably within joint‑venture or large‑scale project environments.
• Strong track record of managing P&L, budgets and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging government and regulatory bodies.
• Ability to split time between Dubai and Iraq and adapt to a multicultural work environment.
