General Practitioner – Emergency

About the role

Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital is seeking a qualified General Practitioner to work in its Emergency Department. The role involves delivering prompt, high‑quality medical care to patients with acute illnesses and injuries, ensuring safety and continuity of care in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with urgent medical conditions in the Emergency Department.
• Perform initial stabilization, resuscitation and emergency interventions, including basic life support measures.
• Order, interpret and act on laboratory and imaging investigations.
• Carry out minor procedures such as suturing, wound care and splinting.
• Identify cases requiring escalation and coordinate timely specialist referrals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Adhere to hospital policies, patient‑safety standards and infection‑control guidelines.
• Participate in on‑call and shift schedules as required.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
• Valid DOH Abu Dhabi licence or eligibility to obtain one.
• Minimum 2‑3 years post‑internship clinical experience, preferably in emergency or acute care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred).
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
