General Technician & Plumber

About the role

The General Technician & Plumber will ensure safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of all plumbing and related systems across the hotel. You will respond to urgent engineering issues, guest requests, and support overall hotel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Respond immediately to health & safety incidents, water leaks, flooding, blocked drainage and other urgent engineering issues.
• Carry out plumbing installation, inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance in guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, laundry, back‑of‑house and plant rooms.
• Maintain and repair hot‑ and cold‑water supply systems, valves, pumps, storage tanks, water heaters and associated equipment.
• Repair toilets, showers, baths, sinks, taps, mixers, flush valves and other sanitary fixtures.
• Identify and rectify leaks, blocked drains, damaged pipework and defective fittings, investigating root causes where practical.
• Support water‑hygiene requirements, including hot‑water temperature monitoring and Legionella controls.
• Operate and maintain LP‑gas systems, steam‑generation equipment and other authorised plant within competency.
• Perform basic general maintenance tasks such as minor electrical work, HVAC assistance, carpentry, painting, tiling, sealing, grouting and furniture repairs.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a plumber or general technician, preferably in a hotel, resort, hospital or large commercial facility.
• Relevant technical or trade certification, mechanical diploma or equivalent.
• Strong guest‑service attitude, professional appearance and proactive problem‑solving approach.
• Fluent English (spoken and written) with ability to read basic technical/maintenance documentation.
