Greaser/Oiler – Marine Dredging Engine Maintenance

About the role

As a Greaser/Oiler in the DREDGING ENGINE (UT-DM) department, you will be responsible for the lubrication and maintenance of the dredger's engine and its components. Your expertise will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the vessel, contributing to the overall success of our dredging projects. Working closely with the engineering team, you will play a crucial role in keeping our equipment in top condition.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular lubrication of engine components, including bearings, gears, and other moving parts.
• Inspect and maintain engine oil levels to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage.
• Monitor and record engine performance data, identifying potential issues or anomalies.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, adjusting, and replacing engine parts as needed.
• Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing engine‑related problems in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and report significant findings to the engineering supervisor.
• Participate in emergency response drills and contribute to the vessel’s safety culture.
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced crew members on engine maintenance practices.
• Work closely with the engineering team to optimize engine performance and implement best practices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Greaser/Oiler or in a similar role on marine vessels.
• Strong knowledge of engine lubrication and maintenance practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
• Basic computer skills for data recording and reporting.
• Valid seafarer’s certificate or equivalent, as per international regulations.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts and adapt to the dynamic nature of dredging operations.
