Head of Business Development – Syria (Market Entry)

About the role

NymCard is looking for a commercially focused Head of Business Development to launch its payments infrastructure platform in Syria. As the first in‑market commercial lead, you will shape the go‑to‑market strategy, engage regulators and key financial players, and build a pipeline from scratch.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle in a greenfield market, from prospecting to contract closure.
• Design and execute NymCard’s go‑to‑market strategy for Syria, prioritising target institutions.
• Develop and maintain a qualified pipeline across commercial banks, the Central Bank of Syria, MFIs, payment firms, telcos and digital banks.
• Establish executive relationships with decision‑makers in the reforming banking sector.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk and Legal to navigate sanctions‑adjacent issues, correspondent‑banking constraints and evolving AML/CFT requirements.
• Represent NymCard at reconstruction, banking and investment forums in Syria and the Levant.
• Provide on‑the‑ground market intelligence on regulatory shifts, competitor activity and client needs.
• Report pipeline transparency to the Chief Business Officer via CRM and manage proposals, pricing and negotiations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or sales leadership within fintech, payments or financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to enter and grow new markets, especially in complex regulatory environments.
• Strong commercial judgment and a track record of delivering revenue growth.
• Excellent C‑suite communication and negotiation skills.
