Head of Construction and Commissioning

About the role

Wood is hiring a Head of Construction and Commissioning in Abu Dhabi for its Oil, Gas & New Energies business. The role runs the Construction and Commissioning function within an assigned business grouping or operating unit, driving delivery excellence, managing a team of typically 50 to 200 people and supporting project execution, business growth and resource planning.

Key responsibilities

• Drive delivery excellence in construction and commissioning and lead by example, promoting safe, ethical behaviour and an inclusive environment
• Lead HSSEA: embed health, safety, security and environment thinking early in design, protect contract margins and deliver projects safely and securely
• Ensure project scopes are managed according to company policy and client contracts, with adequate resources and risk management
• Support business development, identify margin improvements and promote HVEC operations
• Contribute to proposals and bids, identifying and coordinating subject matter experts
• Lead the development of the Construction Management System with software suppliers and discipline heads
• Line manage direct reports, including performance and salary reviews, training, career progression and strategic workforce planning
• Set the vision for the function, plan resources, recruit senior and key personnel and develop talent into senior roles
• Develop local procedures aligned with Wood's policies and standards, and take part in project and proposal reviews
• Work regularly with project management, project controls, site personnel, engineering disciplines, heads of discipline, business development and proposal teams, as well as external stakeholders
