Head of Data Strategy

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned data strategist to lead and build the Data Strategy Group (DSG) within Bybit’s Derivatives Business Unit. This hands‑on leadership role combines commercial data partnership expertise with technical understanding, owning the full data lifecycle from source identification through operations and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data sourcing strategy aligned with the Index Pricing roadmap, evaluating market data vendors, exchanges, alternative data providers and novel sources.
• Lead end‑to‑end pricing and contract negotiations, structuring licensing agreements, SLAs and renewal terms.
• Oversee design and implementation of data ingestion pipelines (APIs, feeds, FTP, WebSocket, FIX) and ensure normalization meets quality standards.
• Establish automated monitoring for data reliability, conduct soundness checks and produce health reports for stakeholders.
• Hire, mentor and develop the DSG team, fostering a documentation‑first, cross‑trained culture.

Required profile

• 8+ years in data strategy, sourcing or partnerships within trading, exchanges or financial services.
• Proven track record negotiating commercial data agreements and managing vendor relationships.
• Deep understanding of market data ecosystems and index pricing methodologies.
• Experience building or leading small high‑performing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management across commercial, technical and senior leadership functions.
